In countries such as Thailand where over 90% of firms are small and medium-size entrepreneurs (SMEs), it is vital that they are given significant attention in national development. In order to achieve sustainable competitiveness, Kenan Institute Asia believes that with appropriate support, the entrepreneurs and SMEs can continue to be economic drivers by stimulating employment, growth opportunities and technological innovation. K.I.Asia's programming builds capacities of entrepreneurs, followed by business incubation services, and eventually management advisory and financial support services. Subsequently, SME training and consulting services are offered as the firms grow. Starting in 1999, Kenan's programs have received generous support from USAID, Thai government agencies and other donors. In some programming, the private sector recipients are also required to pay fees for services.

Services - Kenan Institute Asia develops entrepreneurs and SMEs by providing an array of training, consulting, access to finance and management services, including:

Business Consulting & Training – We offer essential business consulting services for SMEs including: business plan formulation and preparation, human resources management, marketing, supply chain management, production management, productivity and quality management.

Business Incubation – Once the entrepreneurs have learned the basic business knowledge necessary for managing their businesses, K.I.Asia's business incubation services can assist in business development. Services include business mentoring, establishing trade networks to provide access to markets, identifying financial resources, and provision of technical assistance.

Entrepreneurship Training – Training is designed to be highly flexible to allow customization to serve both the entrepreneurs in the rural areas and the generally more sophisticated entrepreneurs in the urban settings. Based on the adaptation of the Rural Entrepreneurship Action Learning (REAL) curriculum, we provide entrepreneurship training through "learning by doing" activities and the "Experiential Learning Cycle" concept.
